Desert Lodges
Mojave Desert
Desert Lodges is a retreat for training and connection in the rugged Mojave Desert landscape. Twenty-one lodge buildings, each with three to four units, are arranged in small pods around shared firepits and gardens of native plants—77 keys in total. The design encourages guests to move seamlessly from private rooms to meandering paths, where moments of encounter and exchange are a natural part of the experience. Couples, friends, and professional groups alike are welcomed into a retreat that fosters community through shared adventure.

The program is anchored by firearm training facilities, a ropes course, and informal gathering areas, with the lodges offering respite between activities. They are welcoming spaces where guests can unwind, share stories, and feel at ease after a day in the desert.

The architecture balances rugged durability with refined comfort. Rammed earth walls, drawn from the land itself, provide thermal stability, sound attenuation, and protection from the climate and critters—grounded and durable yet elegant. Accents of weathering steel catch the shifting desert light in warm tones, while expansive glazing opens each unit to sweeping views, blending the raw drama of the desert with the intimacy of an entirely unique shared experience.

The guest journey flows easily from days of activity and exhilaration in the open landscape to evenings of warmth and camaraderie—gathered around fires, wrapped in blankets, telling stories as the temperatures cool. This rhythm of rugged recreation and retreat creates an experience found nowhere else, where modern comfort meets the elemental spirit of the desert and lasting connections.
